In the next instalment of our 'Meet The Team' series, we introduce Alex Firth, Customer Success Manager at Sport:80.
Alex, tell us a bit about yourself!
"Educationally, I studied Sport & Exercise Science and specialised in Strength & Conditioning, gaining a Masters Degree.
"Professionally I’ve had a varied career, from working in professional football to supporting members of my community with employment coaching and health and wellbeing support, managing teams and working with key stakeholders to promote relationships and support growth.
"I have also worked for a SaaS-based company before, so I’m confident my varied experience will give me good backing for my new role at Sport:80!"
What are some of your main duties at Sport:80?
"I’m part of our Customer Success Team, working closely with Rich, Emma, Bradley, Josh, and Arjith. All of them have been amazing to work with for my 10 weeks so far - the effort they all put in to get results for our clients is second to none, and I’m hopeful to be another positive cog in the Customer Success wheel.
"I’ve been lucky to meet our clients on regular calls, some face to face, and I’m excited to continue supporting them in any way I can."
Tell us a bit about your interests!
"I love sport and high-level competition. My passion is football but I’ll try or watch anything.
"I’m lucky to have a great group of friends and I'm very close to my family, so I love spending time with them.
"I also enjoy playing board games - my friendship group play intense stuff that not many people have heard of (one of our games takes 12 hours to complete!)"
Who is your favourite sports team/athlete?
"I’m a hometown team man, so Doncaster Rovers (the best team in the world)."
What's your favourite sporting memory?
"Doncaster beating Leeds United at Wembley in the 2008 Playoff Final - it was a huge achievement for a smaller club like ours!"
Favourite pasta shape?
"Tortellini!"
What three people would you sit around the table at your ideal dinner party?
"I was very close to my Grandparents, so I’d love to sit with them again!
"If I were to go for people that we all know I’d throw Bob Marley in there, and Alan Rickman - great actor. Probably a bit mainstream, but Kobe Bryant too.
"There’s loads I'd like to add so if I could break the rule of three: Chadwick Boseman, Robin Williams, Tupac Shakur, Steve Irwin, and Christopher Wallace (Notorious B.I.G.).
"I realise all the people I’ve picked have passed, but they all had a big impact on my life as I’ve grown up."
Knife, fork, spoon. If you could only use two for the rest of your life, which two, and why?
"Fork and spoon - can cut most things with a spoon I think."
If you could instantly master any sport, what would it be?
"Boring answer, but football. The level of the athletes at the top of the game is insane.
"If I could have two answers I like the athleticism of American Football, so if I could play in the NFL that would be cool too!"
What's something you don't like, that everybody else does?
"Tea and coffee. I wouldn’t specifically say I don’t like it, I just don’t drink either and never have."
What would your ideal superpower be?
"Teleportation."
What’s your all-time favourite movie?
"Interstellar. I love Christopher Nolan’s films and I really like space!"
What’s a sporting event on your bucket list?
"The Superbowl or a big UFC event. I’d love to visit The Sphere for a big event - I was in Vegas just before it officially opened and it looks like a really unique venue for sport/music."
