2022 marks a special milestone for everyone at Sport:80 as we celebrate 10 years since the company was founded.

In 2012, our Founder and CEO, Gary Hargraves incorporated Sport:80 having returned to his hometown of Sheffield after many years working in the sport sector.

Throughout his career in sport, he saw how the sector was seriously under-serviced by technology. There were few solutions that enabled Governing Bodies and event organisers to centralise and simplify their operations, aggregate data, and engage with participants.

The concept behind Sport:80 was born out of Gary’s involvement in the 2012 ISSF Shooting World Cup, the largest test event prior to the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Tasked to deliver various services linked to the event, Gary procured a proprietary technology solution to seamlessly collect and share data across all the stakeholders involved.

10 years on, that concept has transformed into the Sport:80 Platform, a sophisticated sports business management solution used by more than 60 Governing Bodies. 

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we have created a microsite which looks back at our journey from a spark of inspiration in 2012 to a leader in our market. In each month of this year, a member of our team will be updating the microsite to include their favourite sporting and Sport:80 moment from a particular year in the past decade. We felt it was appropriate that things kicked off with our Founder and CEO, Gary.
